Did you know that self-esteem boosts people’s bodies with
adrenaline to protect their bodies from illnesses? In fact, it not only
prevents illnesses but also increases the body’s energy. Nevertheless, what is
exactly self-esteem? Self-esteem is a characteristic that only human beings
possess, which consists of emotions, thoughts, among other things. Smith and
Mackie (2007) defined it as "the positive or negative evaluations of the
self, as in how we feel about it." Thus, it is our own commitment to
evaluate who we are, and what we can do for ourselves. In other words, if we
don’t want to get ills frequently, we should have a positive evaluation of
ourselves, as we are the owners of our own fate.
